Taoyuan's New Landmark Opens with Taiwan's Longest Hammock-Style Suspension Bridge

The newly planned Taoyuan landmark, the "Xinxikou Suspension Bridge," was originally set to open in the fourth quarter of 2017. Although the main bridge structure has been completed, surrounding facilities and supporting infrastructure are still under construction. It will therefore be delayed and open in January 2018 alongside the Hot Spring Carnival. Once operational, the bridge will span 303 meters, making it Taiwan's longest hammock-style suspension bridge.

The original Xikou Suspension Bridge was demolished in 2015 due to aging infrastructure. The Fuxing District Office then constructed the new Xinxikou Suspension Bridge, which is 303 meters long and 1.2 meters wide. The bridge connects Jiaobanshan and the Xikou Plateau, spanning the Dahan River. Surrounding facilities including the visitor center, Xikou Plaza, Xikou Transfer Center, and Xikou standby center have been gradually completed.

The Xinxikou Suspension Bridge will officially open in January 2018 alongside the Hot Spring Carnival. Visitors may get an early preview as early as October 22 during the “2017 Formosa Elegance Record — Persimmon Red Heartbeat Sky Soaring Super Marathon” event. In addition, the Luofu Atayal Hot Spring Park will also open together with the Xinxikou Suspension Bridge, linking the Luofu area and the Little Wulai Waterfall Scenic Area to create a new tourism highlight.
