For an outdoor Mid-Autumn barbecue, head to these 23 riverside parks—perfect moon-gazing spots

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, 23 designated areas in Taipei’s riverside parks will open for barbecues. The city also encourages visitors to celebrate the holiday in traditional, healthy, and low-carbon ways such as tea appreciation. Those who choose to barbecue at the riverside parks are urged to act responsibly by not littering and helping to keep the environment clean.

Taipei’s riverside parks already have designated areas for barbecues and picnics during regular days, but 16 additional designated spots will be available specifically for the Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing the total to 23 this year. For the 16 areas opened in celebration of the festival, please note the operating hours: from 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 (the day before the festival) to midnight on Wednesday, October 4.

Taipei Riverside Parks: List of Designated Barbecue and Picnic Areas for Mid-Autumn Festival

Due to construction this year, two areas will be temporarily closed: “North Side Underneath Huashan Bridge” and “Unused Idle Space Underneath Huashan Bridge—Square Beside P12 and P24 Bridge Piers on the Right Bank of Xindian River Underneath Huashan Bridge.” Visitors can still barbecue at the “Downstream Side Circular Plaza” in Huashan Riverside Park or at the designated area underneath Guangfu Bridge.
