Chiayi’s popular new landmark, the “Taiping Skywalk” suspension bridge, has sparked heated discussions and attracted many visitors after its recent opening. With an altitude of 1,000 meters, the view not only allows you to overlook the Jianan Plain all the way to the Taiwan Strait during the day, but the nighttime light show is also dazzlingly colorful, resembling a starry boulevard in the sky—truly a captivating sight.

The Taiping Skywalk bridge features nearly a thousand LED multicolored light strips in its light sculpture installation. Although it shines brilliantly at night, there is also concern about light pollution affecting the habitat of animals. Therefore, the Alishan National Scenic Area Administration has compromised by limiting the total lighting time to 30 minutes per day to reduce ecological impact.

The light sculpture facilities of the Taiping Skywalk carry the meaning of illuminating Chiayi. The lights are turned on at 7–9 PM every night, for 10 minutes at each full hour. The first 5 minutes feature colorful lights, followed by 5 minutes of steady illumination. An ecological impact assessment of the light sculpture will be conducted by experts and scholars before the end of the year.
