Breathtaking 360-degree views of snow-capped mountains — the world’s steepest mountain cable car

The Alps cover about two-thirds of Switzerland. In winter, most of the mountains are blanketed in snow, creating unforgettable scenery. Now you can take in this majestic snowy landscape without hiking or taking a helicopter. At the end of 2017, Switzerland completed a world-record engineering project: the Stoos Bahn Tram, the world’s steepest mountain cable car, built at a cost of NT$1.6 billion over 14 years.

This mountain cable car starts in the town of Schwyz and ends in the village of Stoos. Spanning a total track length of 1,720 meters at an altitude of 1,300 meters, it climbs a height difference of 743 meters at a speed of 10 meters per second, with an incline of up to 47.7 degrees. The entire journey takes approximately 2 to 5 minutes, breaking the record for the world’s steepest cable car track.
