On the first day of the Lunar New Year in 2017, the "Manhattanhenge" spectacle—similar to that seen on the streets of New York's Manhattan—appeared in Kaohsiung, attracting many photography enthusiasts who flocked to capture the moment. Youth Road was flooded with crowds, leading to traffic congestion. This year, the second Manhattanhenge will take place on the evening of November 12th on Youth Road. To help photography enthusiasts better capture the view, the Kaohsiung City Government has specially organized the "2017 Photography Masters. Kaohsiung’s Finest" event, and has implemented partial street closures.

The event will run from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the day, with partial road closures on the fast lane of Youth Road between Minquan Road and Guanghua Road. On-site, dumplings and tasting vouchers will be provided for free sampling, kicking off the warm-up for this year’s Tourism Bureau “Warm Winter in Kaohsiung” campaign.

The "Manhattanhenge" spectacle in New York’s Manhattan, USA, refers to the moment when the setting sun aligns perfectly between two glass skyscrapers, casting its golden glow on the streets and transforming them into a fairytale-like golden avenue, much like a movie scene. On the day, visitors can present a specially designed handheld card from the Tourism Bureau or share photos of the Manhattanhenge on their personal Facebook or Instagram accounts. By showing the uploaded photo on-site, they can exchange it for dumplings. The first 30 people in line can also receive one voucher for a taste of Japanese-style pan-fried dumplings.
