The East Coast is home to a variety of homestays, not only boasting breathtaking ocean views but also featuring uniquely designed exteriors. Located in the Shiti Ping Bay, “Desert Style” is covered in thick cement walls overgrown with vines, resembling a whimsical house from The Wizard of Oz. This extraordinary architecture creates an ultimate wild atmosphere, attracting many travelers, hipsters, and artists.

Hidden away in Hualien, the Desert Style homestay was designed by renowned architect Chen Guan-hua. Unlike the modern, tech-driven aesthetic, this building resembles a long-abandoned secret base in the forest, blending seamlessly with the natural scenery of blue seas, blue skies, the Pacific Ocean, and vast lawns and rice fields, giving off a very primal vibe.
