December marks the approach of the merriest holiday season, and this year, the Tainan City Government has installed Christmas decorations at key locations such as the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, Xinying Cultural Center, Zahamu Park, the square in front of Xinying Railway Station, Zhengxing District, and Xinmei District. These decorations have been set up in collaboration with churches and various organizations to host a series of light-up events and performances, spreading warmth, joy, and peace throughout the city.

Each of the two main lighting zones features unique creativity. At the National Museum of Taiwan Literature stands a 15-meter-tall light sculpture Christmas tree named “The Christmas Tree with Warmth.” In addition to playing Christmas carols, the tree displays various festive patterns that change dynamically. With cutting-edge lighting technology, the tree becomes even more dazzling and vibrant at night, offering a rich sensory experience that fills the area with a joyful atmosphere and continuous positive energy.

The Christmas tree in front of Xinying Cultural Center resembles an avant-garde installation artwork. Led by Dean Huang Yaling from the College of Creative Media at Kunshan University of Science and Technology, 200 students worked together to create this piece using bamboo weaving to capture memories of Christmas. It is named “Bamboo-Filled (Fulfilled) Blessings.” This blessing was brought to life by bamboo artisans guiding young students to craft heartfelt year-end wishes on each bamboo panel, delivering the festive cheer unique to the historic city of Tainan.

Beyond the two main lighting zones, other locations including Zahamu Park, the square in front of Xinying Railway Station, the Hidden Gold Pavilion of the Environmental Protection Bureau, Tainan Cultural and Creative Industries Park, Nanhua Shopping Mall, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan New World, and Tainan Takashimaya will also feature distinctive Christmas decorations. Among them, Nanhua Shopping Mall will display a giant Christmas tree at its main entrance and host a “Light-Up Night” event on December 1st in the outdoor plaza on Zhonghua East Road. Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan New World will set up Taiwan’s first-ever Christmas village in its plaza, where romantic snow will fall intermittently to create a strong festive ambiance. Tainan Takashimaya, in addition to installing an interactive Christmas tree in the plaza behind Xinying Railway Station, will hold a charity light-up gala on December 10th. At 5 PM, the mascot will lead a street parade, and at 6 PM, a Japanese traditional dance performance from Mizukami Town will kick off the evening gala, bringing warm blessings to all on this cozy winter night.
