Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve: The Unique Long-Light Display on Taipei 101 Draws Attention

The New Year’s Eve gala is jointly hosted for the first time by veteran host Zeng Baoyi and newly crowned Golden Bell Awards winner Lin Boyi (KID). One is calm and composed, the other lively and entertaining—both have been recognized as Best Hosts at the Golden Bell Awards, with KID being the recipient of this year’s Golden Bell Award for Best Host in a Variety and Reality Show. Following her outstanding performance at the 2017 New Year’s Eve gala, Zeng Baoyi has once again taken on the hosting duties. With her wealth of experience and playful chemistry with KID, they promise a unique show. The press conference also unveiled the initial lineup of performers, including current chart-topping artists such as Ding Dang, Crowd Lu, Bii, William Wei, A-Lin, Matzka, J.Sheon, and Linda Lin—all set to appear at the “2018 Taipei’s Most Exciting New Year’s Eve – New Year’s Gala”!

As early as the evening of November 27th, Taipei 101’s exterior could be seen sporting a brand-new long-strip light pattern featuring phrases such as “Taipei,” “Happiness Together,” and “2018.” The rectangular blocks appeared in the middle section of the building, larger than previous light displays, making them highly eye-catching and drawing attention and photos from passersby nearby.

The “Frozen Festival,” a collaboration between Taipei City’s Tourism and Travel Bureau, Taipei 101, and Disney, was grandly held from November 30th to January 14th at Taipei 101’s Water-Dancing Plaza. It includes an ice-skating rink imported directly from the United States, a 12-meter-high “Frozen Magic Christmas Tree” conjured by magic, a hyper-realistic “Frozen Forest,” as well as a “Town Marketplace” offering various experiences and merchandise—making it the highlight event in Xinyi District this year.
