Top 100 Chefs Worldwide: André Chiang Selected Again for the Fourth Consecutive Year

France’s Le Chef has announced the “2018 World’s 100 Best Chefs” (100 Best Chefs in The World) list, with Taiwanese celebrity chef André Chiang once again making the cut. This is his fourth time receiving this prestigious honor. Among the world’s top 100 chefs, over half of the top 10 are French chefs. In Asia, apart from André Chiang and Singaporean Michelin two-star chef Julien Royer, all are Japanese chefs—including Yoshihiro Nakazawa, who ranks in the top ten, totaling 10 chefs in all.

The World’s 50 Best Chefs list is one of the highest accolades for renowned chefs around the globe. It is compiled by Michelin two- and three-star chefs from around the world, who each name five individuals they believe are the most deserving and also the ones they would most like to see on the list. Being named among the global top 100 chefs is not only recognition of culinary excellence but also serves as an alternative guide to discovering exceptional dining destinations.

In October 2017, André Chiang announced the closure of his Singapore restaurant Restaurant ANDRÉ and returned its Michelin two-star rating. He returned to Taiwan to pass on his experience and knowledge to the next generation. His latest move is to take on the role of Creative and Culinary Director at the new Chengdu restaurant “The Bridge,” aiming to integrate his international culinary expertise to redefine the direction of traditional Chinese cuisine with over a century of history and bring a fresh perspective.
