Three new Michelin-starred dining hotspots to check out – foodies, don’t miss out

Taichung is a popular tourist city in Taiwan and has recently been voted the second happiest city in the country by the younger generation. Many restaurants and F&B businesses are expanding into Taichung. Located on Taiwan Boulevard, the J-Mall shopping center, after undergoing a comprehensive renovation, has introduced three Michelin restaurants, creating a new gourmet paradise in central Taiwan. Trial operations began on December 5, with the official reopening set for early 2018.

Originally planned as a multi-level parking structure by Chengching Hospital, the business operators of J-Mall spotted the commercial potential from the foot traffic generated by the nearby Taichung Industrial Park, Tunghai University, and the adjacent BRT station. Coupled with the lack of dining options in the area, they transformed the first floor of the parking structure into a shopping mall. The mall has since brought in well-known brands such as Tasty and Red House, and has more recently welcomed three Michelin-starred restaurants — “Tim Ho Wan,” “Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Chicken Rice,” and “Tsuta Ramen” — sparking a wave of enthusiasm for its food court.
