Huge OPEN event features eye-catching balloons in a spectacular parade at Dream Mall — Asia’s only one of its kind

Organized by President Chain Store Corporation, guided by the Kaohsiung City Government, and sponsored by Mayor Bakery and Hua Nan Commercial Bank, the “OPEN! Big Balloon Parade” has entered its 10th year in Kaohsiung and has become one of the most iconic large-scale family events in the country, and is also Asia’s only big balloon parade. On the day of the event, December 16, in addition to a procession of 25 cartoon-themed balloons, to welcome the Year of the Dog in 2018, this year’s parade will feature 2,018 furry friends marching proudly at the front of the parade.

The long-running “OPEN! Big Balloon Parade,” comparable to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, allows you to see the most eye-catching giant cartoon characters floating through the streets of Kaohsiung without leaving Taiwan. It has long been a favorite large-scale family event among locals. As next year is the Year of the Dog, the balloon parade is introducing, for the first time, the “2018 Furry Friends Gathering to Welcome the Year of the Dog” campaign. During the parade, these furry friends will team up with Lock Jiang to lead the way as trailblazers for the event.

Through this timely new element of the event, attention is also given to the growing role that furry companions play in the lives of more and more families.
