Taiwan’s trendiest material library rivals Bangkok’s—must-visit for creative souls

As technology advances rapidly, the quality of design materials has been steadily improving. However, seeing the amazing new creations from material suppliers often requires flying to international expos, which is a headache for many designers. In Taipei’s East District, there’s now Taiwan’s first indoor material library, “PICAMAT.” It not only collects materials from brands represented in Taiwan but also gathers the latest materials from global exhibitions, allowing designers to find inspiration without traveling abroad.

Housed within a residential space, PICAMAT has gathered materials from nearly 100 brands. From the perspective of interior designers, it selects a diverse range of materials best suited for the Taiwanese market, making the entire library compact yet exquisite. Additionally, the basement of the library serves as an open co-working space, offering personal designers a place for interaction, sharing, and collaboration.

Currently, PICAMAT is limited to designer membership. Members can use the material library, reading room, and meeting rooms unlimited times. The library also provides members with information on material suppliers and pricing, as well as procurement services.
