Spanish Running of the Bulls Festival OLE！OLE！An Exciting New Experience in the Town of Pamplona

To experience the most passionate and craziest side of Spain, you must join the "Running of the Bulls" festival！ Also known as the San Fermín Festival (San Fermín), it is a traditional celebration in the northern Spanish town of Pamplona in the Pyrenees mountains and one of the world’s most anticipated summer events.

The Running of the Bulls Festival officially begins at noon on July 6th each year, when tens of thousands of visitors gather in the square in front of the town hall to welcome the annual festivities.

The bull runs start at 8 a.m. every morning from July 7th onward. Participants wear white shirts, red scarves, red sashes, and carry rolled-up newspapers as they join this sacred and thrilling event.

During this time, the Bull Running Capital—Pamplona—is immersed in a joyous atmosphere. The town’s population also surges rapidly from 250,000 to nearly 1.5 million in a short period, with bustling crowds everywhere. Throughout the event, six fierce bulls chase hundreds of brave men along the “Running of the Bulls route” straight to the bullring each day. The “Running of the Bulls route” is a narrow cobblestone street, 848 meters long, located in the old town.

During the run, the streets are packed with people. Bulls weighing around 500 kilograms charge out of their pens and run at nearly 25 kilometers per hour for about four minutes, before finally being herded into the bullring to conclude the event.

Spaniards believe that the Running of the Bulls provides adult men with an opportunity to demonstrate wisdom, courage, and determination, allowing them to prove they are real men. American Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway vividly depicted the thrilling scenes of the Pamplona Running of the Bulls in his 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises, leaving a lasting impression.
