Next to Xinpu 10th Street, across from Taoyuan Regent Hotel, there’s a cozy little eatery called Xiao Ye Handmade Light Meals Kitchen. They mainly serve light meals, burgers, desserts, and coffee. I used to think “Lao Ye” (Old Ye) and “Xiao Ye” (Little Ye) were the same, so I never paid attention to this place. Later, I found out the two have very different styles and owners—what a lovely misunderstanding.

Besides dining in, they also offer takeout services on weekdays, and the prices are similar to those of American-style chain breakfast spots—moderately priced. It’s quite suitable for when you want a nicer meal during workdays.

The shop sign outside is particularly unique, decorated with various kitchen utensils that you can see right at the entrance.

Let’s take a look at the interior decor first—it’s American country style with vibrant colors. At Xiao Ye, there’s no service charge, and it’s self-service for utensils, condiments, and even water.

The wall on the other side is decorated with a Las Vegas backdrop, giving off a rather exotic vibe.

There’s a minimum spend of NT$100 in-store, and if the seating is full, the time limit is 100 minutes per customer.

Here are some photos of the MENU for reference. The shop often introduces new dishes, but I’m not a fan of messy MENU designs. If items are no longer available, it’d be nicer to cover them up with washi tape or decorate them somehow.

The drink selection looks pretty tempting, especially since they all come with latte art or 3D foam—it’s very photogenic.

The shop offers a “secret menu” of the day, which is available irregularly. Aside from the regular MENU, you can also check the table cards or ask the staff directly for quicker recommendations.

The open fridge inside always has the day’s desserts available, though most of the offerings are from the refrigerated display.

The rainbow cheesecake is also gorgeous—the color scheme is so pretty. If you want a beautifully Instagrammable treat, this one’s worth trying.

The blackboard on the wall also lists the dishes available. Many regulars come here early for meals. We ended up here because the café we originally wanted to visit was unexpectedly closed, but it turned out to be a lovely accidental find—the atmosphere here is actually quite nice.

Xiao Ye Daddy’s Hand-Cut Crispy Fried Chicken Nuggets – NT$120 (Choose either French Honey Mustard Sauce or Sawa Dijon Spicy Sweet Sauce)

This appetizer is also one of the shop’s signature dishes—many tables order it, especially those who love fried food.

The shop’s fried chicken nuggets are marinated before frying, locking in the juices. The sweet spicy sauce has a slight kick that actually cuts through the greasiness.

The meat is also very tender, with a pinkish hue inside. After asking the staff, they said it’s due to the marinade—but personally, I think a bit more frying would be safer, though it’s still really delicious.

Sea Salt Caramel Latte – NT$120

I ordered this coffee purely because of the 3D foam—it’s just too cute. The owner said that if time allows, she’ll always make cute latte art for customers, and it tastes quite smooth too.

American-Style Peanut Butter Cheese Beef Burger – NT$220

When I visit a new place and don’t know what to order, I usually go for the dishes the shop recommends. Seeing it’s a signature dish, I went for it without hesitation—Up for it!!

Every time I see a burger loaded with peanut butter granules, it looks so indulgent. The lettuce is also washed very clean. With the addition of lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, the flavor isn’t greasy at all.

Just look at the cross-section—you can tell the beef burger has onions that add a juicy texture. The burger bun is heated until crispy, but it’s a bit too thick, so I ended up eating it in separate bites.

The burger comes with fruit as well, which helps add some extra fiber.

Double-Layer Berry Fresh Cheese Tart – NT$100

I didn’t expect the dessert to be plated so adorably when it arrived. As they say, people wear makeup, Buddha statues are gilded—desserts also look better (and taste better) with some decoration.

With both strawberries and blueberries, the tart gets a sweet and tangy flavor boost. The fresh cheese combines two flavors, adding moisture, and the crust isn’t too dry either—it performed quite well.

This visit to Xiao Ye felt like great value—the prices aren’t high, and there are plenty of choices. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a try~
