New Osaka Attraction! Don Quijote Dotonbori Ferris Wheel Now Open for Riders

Everyone visiting Japan's shopping hotspot, Don Quijote, knows that different branches offer distinct features. The entrance of Don Quijote in Osaka's Dotonbori is a specially designed storefront surrounded by the “God of Wealth Ferris Wheel,” which leaves a lasting impression on visitors. Recently, Don Quijote Dotonbori announced that the God of Wealth Ferris Wheel—previously closed due to technical issues—will now reopen and allow riders to enjoy views of the Dotonbori area. The news has excited many tourists and sparked widespread discussion.

Don Quijote Dotonbori Store in Osaka opened in 2005. On the south side, facing the Dotonbori Canal, a 77.4-meter-long oval track Ferris wheel was built into the exterior wall, offering views of the canal and becoming a hot topic at the time. The “God of Wealth Ferris Wheel” was initially in operation after the store’s opening but was later suspended due to cracks in the track. After years of repairs, it has recently been announced that the Ferris wheel will reopen on January 19. This has generated excitement among international visitors and also piqued the curiosity of local Japanese people.

In addition to Don Quijote’s mascot penguin, the Ferris wheel also features the Japanese God of Wealth, a symbol of business prosperity. The 77.4-meter-tall Ferris wheel has 32 four-person cabins, takes about 15 minutes to complete one rotation, and costs 600 yen per ride. It is expected to become the newest attraction in the Dotonbori area of Osaka.
