Following Disneyland, Shanghai gains a new theme park destination. After years of anticipation, the Shanghai Andersen Fairy Tale Theme Park is finally set to open, with an initial opening date of June 1. Ticket prices are set at 180 RMB (approximately 800 TWD).
ShanghaiNews Morning PostReporters recently visited the Shanghai Andersen Fairy Tale Theme Park, located on Guohong Road in Xinjiangwan City. The main gate remains closed. Observations indicate that the park’s themed buildings have largely been completed, with some workers finishing final decoration touches, and the air still carries the scent of paint.
According to park officials, the Shanghai Andersen Fairy Tale Theme Park is the world’s first theme park authorized by the Kingdom of Denmark, named after Hans Christian Andersen, and designed for families with children. It covers an area of 81,000 square meters. The park is themed around Andersen and divided into seven major themed areas based on classic fairy tales such as "Thumbelina," "The Little Match Girl," and "The Ugly Duckling." Each area has its own unique color scheme and incorporates highly interactive themed rides, landscapes, and performances.

In addition to the seven major themed areas, the Shanghai Andersen Fairy Tale Theme Park also features three themed theaters, 20 themed landscapes, 40 amusement facilities, as well as self-developed and innovative AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) technologies.
Although the park has not yet officially opened, two major themed venues in the “Wishing Town” area have begun trial operations. One is the world’s only Andersen Museum, which houses three original editions of "Andersen’s Fairy Tales" donated by a Danish museum as its most precious exhibits. The other is a low-carbon science experience pavilion that educates families on eco-friendly living.
The Andersen Fairy Tale Theme Park was designated for Shanghai’s Xinjiangwan City in 2005, broke ground in 2009, and has seen multiple announced opening dates that were subsequently postponed. The park is tentatively set to officially begin selling tickets this year on June 1, with a window price of 180 RMB.
