Once crowned the champion of Taiwan’s Top 10 Must-Visit Libraries, the “Kaohsiung Public Library Central Library” is arguably one of the most photogenic landmarks in the area. Its translucent glass architecture, glowing tree-like columns, and green-view observation decks are all highly eye-catching. The rooftop even features a sky garden that offers a panoramic view of the cityscape, leaving visitors in awe.

This green architecture, embodying the concept of “trees within the building, and the building within trees,” draws inspiration from nature. The four main supporting columns break away from traditional designs, woven together with steel cables to resemble the appearance of vines. During the day, they appear pure white, but at night, they transform into a kaleidoscope of fluorescent colors. This uniquely playful design serves as an excellent backdrop, attracting many to take artistic photos here.

The nine-story Kaohsiung Municipal Central Library is constructed entirely with transparent glass, allowing natural light to flood in without the need for excessive artificial lighting. This greatly enhances the visual openness and makes the reading environment feel more spacious. Coupled with the multi-level, loft-like interior layout, the space feels even more expansive.
