Live with kitties！ Fukuoka’s “Stray Cat Hostel” in Japan costs just ¥800 per night

In recent years, Japan has seen the opening of many unique accommodations. Now in Fukuoka, the“Nekokura Hostel” (ホステルねこ?), which just opened at the end of March, combines a stray cat shelter with a youth hostel. Guests can even enter the cat rooms to interact with the felines staying there, making it a hot topic right from its launch.

This stray cat hostel has two floors: the first floor houses the stray cat shelter and a restaurant. The cats here were all originally scheduled for euthanasia in shelters but were rescued by the hostel. A special room dedicated to the stray cats has been created where the felines can stay while the hostel helps find them new owners. The second floor is the youth hostel area and includes rooms exclusively for female guests. A total of up to 18 guests can be accommodated, starting from ¥2,900 (about NT$810) per night. Income from guest stays and the restaurant is used to care for the cats. The hostel also stated: “We hope to become a gathering place for cat lovers from around the world.”

Even non-guests can visit the cat room. By making a free reservation in advance through the official website, you can enter the cat room and interact with the felines. The goal is to help every kitty find a loving family that will care for them for life.
