You can easily reach the “Oriental Hawaii” of Hainan Island. With surprisingly great deals that won’t break the bank, enjoying a sunny, sandy, bikini-filled holiday is as easy as can be!

Hainan Island, famous for its stunning beaches, is not only known as the “Oriental Hawaii,” but has also been rated one of China’s top ten most beautiful islands. Surrounded by sea on all sides and infused with oceanic vibes, it enjoys mild winters without severe cold and summers without intense heat—spring-like weather all year round—with up to eight months suitable for sea bathing. Plus, it’s not far from Taiwan. This is the perfect spot for the ultimate island vacation!

The Nanshan Big and Small Cave Heaven scenic area in Sanya, Hainan Island, has a history of over 800 years since its founding, and its beautiful scenery was already well-known as far back as the Song Dynasty. It is divided into four scenic zones: the Buddhist Culture Park, Big and Small Cave Heaven Tourist Area, Golden Jade Guanyin Pavilion, and Longevity Valley. As you walk through, you’ll discover the uniquely beautiful harmony between the sea and mountain landscapes. The gorgeous coastline is covered with naturally formed clusters of rocks of all sizes, and together the mountains and sea form an ancient and elegant long scroll painting.

Head next to BINGLANG Valley, which preserves pristine tropical ecological landscapes. Through tribal culture and live performances, you can learn all about the culture of Hainan’s ethnic minorities in one go. BINGLANG Valley showcases the indigenous cultures of the Li and Miao peoples. Originally a Li ethnic mountain village, it has evolved into the best place on Hainan Island to experience native traditions.

The entire BINGLANG Valley scenic area consists of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Village, Ganshi Li Village, Guyin Miao Family, Field Li Home, Orchid Wooden Cottages, and the Li and Miao Flavor Food Street cultural experience zone. The Intangible Cultural Heritage Village is the highlight of the scenic area. Its two small alleyways made of boat-shaped houses, along with fountains and fruit trees, have a distinctly ethnic vibe. As you walk through, you might encounter tattooed elders weaving brocades, and sometimes they’ll even warmly greet you and share stories from their culture!

Additionally, the emerging Yetian Ancient Village also presents the living culture of the indigenous people, especially the historical and traditional charm of the Miao people. Through lively interactive performances and unique architecture, it blends natural and cultural landscapes with rich folk customs—definitely worth a visit.

For those wanting to admire a crescent-shaped bay, be sure to check out the Dadonghai Tourist Area. The vast sea surface is crystal-clear like a mirror, and the bay curves like a bow. White sands are soft and warm, while sunlight, blue waters, sandy beaches, and green trees create a beautiful tropical scene.

Sit in a café overlooking the beautiful Sanya Bay, sip a cool drink, enjoy some tropical fruit or small snacks, and bask in the refreshing coconut breeze. Especially at sunset, when the colorful light sparkles and the sound of waves fills your ears, it’s one of life’s greatest pleasures.

To admire Hainan Island’s unique scenery, you can also take a boat tour on Yudai Beach. The unparalleled Yudai Beach combines views of three rivers (the Wanquan River, Jiuqu River, and Longgun River) and three islands (Dongyu Island, Yuanyang Island, and Zhoupo Island), and has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “narrowest sandy peninsula separating sea and river.” Leisurely enjoy the interwoven scenery of beach, seawater, coconut shadows, and blue sky, as well as the world’s best-preserved river estuary—a memory that will stay with you for a long time.

Meanwhile, in Haikou in northern Hainan Island—the provincial capital—you must visit the Feng Xiaogang Movie Commune. Designed with architectural elements inspired by scenes from renowned director Feng Xiaogang’s classic films such as “1942,” “Aftershock,” and “If You Are the One,” every corner exudes the captivating atmosphere of a movie scene.

The Feng Xiaogang Movie Commune showcases the street style of Chinese cities throughout a full century of the last 100 years, fully displaying the evolution of 20th-century Chinese urban architecture.

The area includes three main streets: the 1942 Style Street, the Nanyang Style Street, and the Old Beijing Style Street. There’s also the Church Square Area, the Garden Scenic Area, a large film production base, and a Starlight Boulevard. On the most popular Starlight Boulevard, you can find the handprints and signatures of 80 stars, most of whom have visited the commune. Stroll along the boulevard, feel the strong starry atmosphere, and you might even unexpectedly run into your idols—the happiest and most delightful moment of your journey.
