His wife dreamed of a European-style wedding, so he set out to create the perfect wedding setting for them both.
Nantou’s newly opened Sway B&B spans approximately 1,500 ping, but only features five standalone glass houses and two quadruple rooms, preserving large green spaces. Surrounded by palm trees, the sandy beach and pool make it feel like you’ve been transported abroad.

Lin Po-yen, born in 1973, recently tied the knot with his wife, choosing their self-designed and envisioned “Sway B&B” as the venue — essentially creating his own dream wedding. Lin said that the first couple to hold their wedding here was us, explaining that he originally planned to build a home for himself, but realized the adjacent land could be utilized. Coupled with his wife’s longing for a European-style wedding, he crafted a space reminiscent of Guam’s island vibe, repurposing parts of the land for outdoor wedding scenery.

On the 1,500 ping plot, Lin divided the space into a glass house accommodation area, a sandy beach, a pool, a barbecue bar, a stage, a gym, a steam room, and a squash court. He also added decorative elements like European arches and yurts to create photogenic hotspots — all within this expansive area of just seven rooms.

There are five glass houses here, a favorite among girls in recent years. Their transparent ceilings flood the rooms with natural light. The interiors feature distinctive walls paired with European-style furniture. Each glass house has its own small courtyard, where the lawn is enclosed by walls covered in creeping plants, forming a natural floral wall. There are also two quadruple rooms that offer views of the beach area — so immersive, you might think you’ve arrived at an island villa resort.

The beach is made up of numerous small white pebbles, adjacent to the pool. In front of the pool is a projector screen, allowing you to watch movies while lying on the sand — very much like an American TV series vibe. During certain seasons, cherry blossom trees and bald cypresses nearby compete in beauty, adding to the idyllic scenery.

Not a girl himself, but he understands the female heart well. Through our conversation, Lin Po-yen revealed that he loves making things beautiful and has a strong obsession with aesthetics. Every detail of Sway B&B, big or small, was hand-drawn by him before being constructed by work crews — it took quite some time to turn his dream into reality. Drawing inspiration largely from his wife’s girlish tastes, he aimed to create a space that girls would love, suitable for parties, weddings, or stays.
