Tokyo’s most elegant “Snoopy Café” – Book a month in advance if you want to eat here

Asia’s only “Snoopy Museum” opened in Roppongi in 2016, combining a themed restaurant, exhibition, and merchandise, quickly becoming a popular destination for fans. But actually, there’s more than just this distinctive Snoopy café. Located in Nakameguro, Tokyo, “PEANUTS Cafe” adds a touch of adult sophistication and elegance, along with a fully reservation-only policy, allowing fans to spend an afternoon with Snoopy in a very artsy way.

“PEANUTS Cafe” actually opened as early as 2015. The exterior of the restaurant doesn’t immediately remind fans that they’ve arrived at “PEANUTS Cafe” with obvious Snoopy imagery, but rather with a striking two-story white building, simply featuring the word “PEANUTS” above the entrance to catch the eye of passersby. Charlie Brown’s classic line from the comics, “A good way to forget a love affair is to eat a lot of goop,” is used as a circular hanging lamp on the first-floor ceiling, while the lamps on the second floor are wrapped with various pages of “Peanuts” comic strips, allowing fans to enjoy different stories from the comics just by looking up.

In addition, within the second-floor dining space, a section of the wall is used to display Snoopy plush toys, and Snoopy picture books are placed near the seating. Tableware and napkins featuring “Peanuts” comics are a given, making it hard not to exclaim how cute everything is upon entering.

Aside from a wide selection of meals and drinks, the café also sells various merchandise such as ceramic plates, eco-friendly bags, and mugs. However, because “PEANUTS Cafe” is so popular, it operates on a fully reservation-only basis—you must book online a month in advance. Without a reservation, you won’t be allowed to dine inside. However, if you’re just getting takeout or buying merchandise, no reservation is needed. Keep this in mind if you’re planning a pilgrimage here.
