Famous for its flaky egg tarts, Hong Kong’s Honolulu Coffee Shop is set to launch in Taiwan this May.

Following Caffe Florian, the well-known Hong Kong “Honolulu Coffee Shop” will also set up shop at A11, New York New York Mall in Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, bringing the taste of cha chaan teng to locals without the need to travel abroad. The outlet is being brought in by Dacheng Group’s food and beverage service group and is slated to open in May.
The Honolulu Coffee Shop is an iconic cha chaan teng in Hong Kong, famous for its coffee, flaky egg tarts, and yuanyang (half coffee, half tea). Its 192-layer flaky egg tart is especially renowned. The branch on Hennessy Road was also one of the filming locations for the movie “Crossing Hennessy.” Originally, the Honolulu Coffee Shop had three outlets in Hong Kong, but its Central branch—open for 21 years—closed in March, leaving just two remaining stores in the city.
