If you ask me where you absolutely must go in Taichung, I’d definitely recommend Fengjia Night Market, haha!! Because even we love coming here—eating our usual favorites and checking out the new spots. With so many delicious foods gathered in one place, Fengjia Night Market is truly the pride of Taichung people~ Not to mention how quickly new and creative dishes appear here, often updating faster than any other night market in Taiwan!
Take this ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ we tried this time—it’s totally my favorite kind of seafood dish!! It’s a takeaway teppanyaki concept~ If you love seafood and teppanyaki too, I highly recommend adding ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ to your must-visit list~ It’s hands down my most favorite seafood teppanyaki you can take away in all of Fengjia Night Market!! XDXD
First, ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ is located right in the bento street of Fengjia Night Market—that’s the alley where they sell taiyaki-style sausages (big sausage wrapped around small sausage)! Walk in along the row of food stalls, and about halfway down on your right, you’ll spot their cool little shop—super Japanese vibes, we loved the design right away :)

Even running a business in a night market, they don’t cut any corners—that’s the commitment from ‘Yi Jiang Shao’!! The whole place feels like a cozy little izakaya~ with two big red lanterns on either side, wooden plaques above the counter, and even the menu made by joining pieces of wood together. There’s something especially warm and storied about wood—it changes over time, in color, in tone, carrying everyone through year after year.

Just standing in front of ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ and you’re drawn in by the fresh seafood on display!! A huge box of oysters that look almost too good to be true, each one shining brightly!! And don’t worry about them being out in the open—they were selling out fast even while we waited!! On the other side, there are also big shrimp and scallops, the shrimp already shelled and deveined, sitting fresh on black chilled stones!! I seriously wanted to eat them all XD

And then there’s that full wall of ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ grills in the back—such an impressive sight!! You’re probably familiar with night market snacks, but have you ever had teppanyaki at a night market that’s practically professional-grade?! Not just black pepper steak, but every ingredient keeping its freshest, most original flavor, presented in the simplest way that lets you taste that freshness the most!! If you’re a foodie in Fengjia Night Market, I’d say ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ is absolutely top-tier!! It really made me feel like “nothing is impossible” when it comes to night market food~

#Seafood Beef Combo (small beef, two big shrimp, one scallop) 180 TWDNormally, you’d have to go to a restaurant to enjoy teppanyaki, but ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ lets you eat it while strolling the night market!! Bringing high-end teppanyaki into Taiwan’s lovely night market culture~ The big teppanyaki plate sizzles with puchi-puchi sounds—that’s the oil dripping onto the grill, the sound of fresh ingredients sizzling. Just like always, my friend ordered the #Seafood Beef Combo, which is a land-and-sea combo!! It has small beef, big shrimp, and scallops!! If you want both beef and seafood, this is the one to get!

The bento box is packed with super fresh ingredients, made to order—that’s the key!! Holding it hot in your hands, the aroma alone is soul-awakening~ Getting one for yourself is definitely a satisfying experience!! Two big shrimp, small beef, and scallops alongside, just a sprinkle of Japanese salted scallions on top is enough. Must eat it while hot!! The tender scallops are golden brown on the outside, soft inside, and best of all, the juices are still sealed in... one bite and your eyes close from how good it is!! This is literally five-star hotel level, and getting to enjoy it at such an affordable price is just too good!! XD

The small beef is thinly sliced from the shoulder area, cooked to just the right doneness—around medium-rare to medium!! A bit of pink but not raw!! One bite and the beef juices burst in your mouth, tender, springy, sweet, and just the right size to chew and savor XD

The two big shrimp are absolutely the highlight!! (Seafood lovers will be in heaven XD) They’ve already been shelled and deveined, so once grilled on the teppan, they’re flavorful and juicy, not just chewy-good!! The sweetness of the shrimp makes your eyes close from happiness~ Because it’s so fresh, you don’t need heavy seasonings—the freshness makes everything taste amazing!! Big recommendation for seafood lovers: don’t miss ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ when you’re in Fengjia Night Market!! XD
#Big Oysters (six pieces) 300 TWD (60 TWD each, buy five get one free)

With smoke billowing and white steam rising, these big oysters sizzle one by one on the teppan, releasing their fresh aroma~ Going to a night market and eating clams or oysters is normal, but a whole plate of teppanyaki-grilled oysters—that’s next level!! Not just us who love it, we noticed tons of guys ordering a whole bowl just for themselves!! Then handing the bowl right back to the boss XD People who love seafood are usually picky about freshness and sweetness—you can really tell the quality of ingredients a place uses... Every time we go to ‘Yi Jiang Shao’, we find their seafood is restaurant-grade!! Big oysters like these are 60 TWD each, buy five and get one free!! So lots of people just order a bowl of six, perfect for couples or guys eating solo XD

You can really feel how big these oysters are just by holding them—the teppan grill is perfectly done, and the oyster juice is perfectly sealed inside the shell. Remember to first sip that briny juice—the natural sea saltiness, the unique oyster flavor... then chew into that incredible taste!! The tender grilled oysters are piping hot from the teppan, Q弹 (chewy and bouncy), and inside they’re super soft!! Seafood lovers will fall for it!! The excellent teppanyaki technique earns ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ two thumbs up—we love how they keep the oyster’s freshness without overcooking it :)

Eating more good food is a must!! Enjoying night market eats is all about that happy feeling of eating as you walk~ Your eyes see one dish, your mouth enjoys another, and when you get your freshly made food from ‘Yi Jiang Shao’, everyone just starts eating right at the entrance!! So don’t be shy—enjoy them while they’re fresh!! Savor that freshness, enjoy that hot, rolling wave of flavor~
#Premium Sea Combo (seared salmon, two big shrimp, one scallop) 200 TWD

My friend ordered the #Seafood Beef Combo, but I went for this #Premium Sea Combo!! This one is all about the seafood!! The chef cooks it fresh on the teppan—big shrimp flipped, scallops reducing in their juices, and the salmon turning that beautiful golden color!! Then it all goes into my box. Ding ding ding!! This is my #Premium Sea Combo, featuring two big shrimp, one scallop, and a piece of seared salmon—pure seafood bliss~

The scallops are teppan-grilled to a golden brown, sprinkled with just a touch of black pepper, nothing else needed. One bite and the juices burst out, so tender, the umami flooding your mouth, the joy coming straight from the heart~ The big shrimp? Needless to say—the cooking skill, the freshness of the ingredients at ‘Yi Jiang Shao’!! I could honestly eat ten of these shrimp in a row!! One bite and the snap of the shrimp body makes you love the flavor even more. Don’t miss the shrimp head—just suck it in and it’s mind-blowingly delicious〜〜〜 XD

And of course, another highlight in the #Premium Sea Combo is that seared salmon!! A whole piece of salmon, both sides golden brown, the outside slightly crispy, the inside tender and juicy salmon!! Add in that garlic oil, and it’s the most beautiful match seafood could ask for!! Every bite hits the heart, making you fall in love with the day you discovered ‘Yi Jiang Shao’!!
#Imperial Beef 150 TWD (second portion half-price at 70 TWD)

And this #Imperial Beef is definitely a favorite of my friend’s!! It’s from the area near the beef tenderloin~ Sometimes we even order two portions because the second is only 70 TWD!! But since we had oysters that day, haha!! We just got one to enjoy XD Every time we see the ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ chefs cook, it feels like we’ve wandered into a fancy restaurant. Their precise techniques make every ingredient shine!! Knowing exactly when to flip, when the oil drips—it’s all so professional!!

Don’t think you can’t get good beef in a night market—come try ‘Yi Jiang Shao’ and you’ll be amazed!! Seeing that kind of professional skill, you might even get swept up in the vibe!! Thinking everything looks so cool, and suddenly wanting to order more XD

Yay~~~~ This is our #Imperial Beef!! Doesn’t it look super satisfying!? A full portion for just 150 TWD, the second for only 70 TWD. That’s why we always come here when we’re in Fengjia XD If you love beef, you can get a portion for yourself!! If you’re a couple wanting both beef and seafood, add the #Premium Sea Combo too!! It’ll give you that perfect land-and-sea combo~

This big chunk is definitely best eaten in one big bite!! The seared crust on the outside with that slight teppan crispiness is just the best~~~~ The key is that it’s Q弹 (chewy and bouncy), tender, and bursting with beef juices!! It’s like moisture spreading in your mouth, tender but not raw, soft yet refined. So good you’ll keep taking bites!! If you like salted scallions, don’t forget to add some—their aroma adds another layer of sweetness to the beef!! So good I wanted to order a bowl of rice and sit down XD

I really love coming to Fengjia Night Market on weekdays—it’s a local’s perk!! Haha!! Weekends are just way too crowded!! Going on a weekday lets you enjoy a more relaxed stroll, at least you won’t be stuck in a crowd XD You can walk slowly, eat slowly, and fully enjoy all the foods we love!! Like ‘Yi Jiang Shao’—one of our regular go-tos, definitely a seafood lover’s dream.
