Guoxing Township’s most renowned “milk honey dates” are now in peak season. These dates were independently developed by honey date expert Chen Shih-yeh, who cultivated them using natural organic ingredients such as powdered milk to produce fruits with thin skins, abundant juice, and a sweetly crisp texture. They are widely loved by gourmets. During this harvest season, the area also opens for fruit-picking tourism, drawing large numbers of visitors daily to enjoy the picking experience.
Chen Shih-yeh, who successfully cultivated the milk honey dates in Guoxing Township, is a new immigrant. Three years ago, she was honored as a “National Model New Immigrant Family and Women’s Role Model” and received an award from then-President Ma Ying-jeou, earning her the title of “Pride of Guoxing.”
Chen Shih-yeh’s “Champion Milk Honey Date Farm” is located near the Guoxing Interchange of National Highway 6, beside Zhongtan Highway in the Gueigui Section.
Chen Shih-yeh revealed that the secret to growing high-quality honey dates lies not only in the region’s unique natural environment and climate — with significant day-night temperature variations — but also in her own specially developed natural formula. By using powdered milk, eggs, soy milk, mixed with black sugar and fermented Yakult, she creates a natural organic blend that results in milk honey dates with thin skins, sweetness, crispness, and juiciness, winning widespread praise.
Qiu Meiling, a county councilor actively promoting Guoxing’s agricultural specialties, pointed out that visiting Guoxing’s Gueigui Village and Gangou Village at this time not only allows you to enjoy the fun of picking honey dates and sugar oranges, but also to taste Guoxing’s locally grown coffee — the only one in Taiwan with an origin-certified label. It’s a trip worth taking, promising a fulfilling experience and unforgettable memories.
