Youth is for bravely chasing dreams. Nestled in Magong City, Penghu, Xiaodaojia, a cozy eatery open for just over a month, is exactly such a place that embodies youth, vitality, and dreams. The owner, MIKE, served in the military in Penghu. After being baptized by the island breeze, he fell in love with this land full of sea winds and vitality. After being discharged, he decided to settle here with friends and started running a small restaurant that specializes in brunch.

   

People in Penghu usually go fishing or work early in the morning, requiring stamina, so they prefer oily foods like seafood soup noodles, harbor noodles, and meat-seafood noodles to replenish energy. To break away from these traditional local eating habits, MIKE decided to replace them with fresh and healthy brunch options, incorporating seasonal local fruits or seafood for variety. For example, the salads here might feature local bayberries or dragon fruit, or seafood like squid. Even the pumpkin used in the pumpkin soup is locally grown, which is arguably the biggest highlight.

It’s worth mentioning that the romaine lettuce used in the shop is specially ordered from Taiwan, and the medium-thick slices of toast are also bread without any artificial additives, rich in healthy concepts. Even the must-try Xiaodao black tea is specially blended in a unique ratio, offering an exceptionally pure and fragrant taste. For those who like Penghu’s fucoidan tea, it’s also available here and will instantly cool you down. Due to its proximity to the Penghu harbor, the simple shop is decorated in blue and white, with patterns of double-heart stone weirs and lighthouses on the walls, creating a uniquely romantic atmosphere of the Chrysanthemum Island.
