The Latest "First Snow" in 122 Years: Hokkaido Dons a White New Look

Parts of Hokkaido and Aomori in Japan saw their first snowfall on November 18, marking the first time this year (2012) that temperatures dropped below zero. Buildings and cars across Hokkaido were blanketed in thick snow, but this snowfall was the "latest" in 122 years.

The first cold air mass of winter has arrived in Japan, and the regions that welcomed this 122-year-latest snowfall were Hokkaido, Aomori, and other northern areas, all donning a brand-new white look. The TOMAMU Resort in central Hokkaido was also covered in snow. Resort management excitedly stated that based on current snow conditions, the ski resort will officially open on December 1, allowing visitors to experience the enchanting world of the snowy nation.
