Welcome aboard the "Hobbit Plane"! Air New Zealand's new aircraft takes you to Middle-earth

The "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" movie will premiere in Wellington tomorrow (28th). Various themed decorations have sprung up across New Zealand, and Air New Zealand has launched a special "Hobbit Plane" in response to the film. The aircraft is covered with large posters of "The Lord of the Rings," aiming to carry passengers into the mysterious world of Middle-earth as seen in the movies.

Following the giant Gollum installation at Wellington Airport and Air New Zealand’s safety video featuring a flight on the "Hobbit Plane," the airline has now officially launched an actual "Hobbit Plane." "Let’s journey to a world of wonder!" said an Air New Zealand spokesperson. The aircraft’s fuselage, painted with the image of the wizard Gandalf, features the largest movie-themed livery ever applied to an Air New Zealand plane. This plane will carry passengers to the imagined settings of "The Lord of the Rings" — the land of Middle-earth. In the future, this aircraft will operate flights on routes between Auckland, Los Angeles, and London, and is expected to boost tourism revenue for New Zealand.
