Located in Qingshui District, the Taichung Port Art Center features architecture inspired by Southern Fujian design—simple yet refined—and attracts one million visitors each year. Director Guo Tianyun notes that the center boasts Taiwan’s largest single exhibition hall and hosts prestigious events like the New Look Award and the National Hundred-Number Oil Painting Exhibition, providing emerging artists with a platform to showcase their talents.

Nestled against the mountains and facing the sea, the Port Art Center is built across undulating artificial hills and flat land. Its layout interprets “courtyard spaces,” featuring Minnan-style architecture enhanced by ponds and winding bridges that create an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance. With local traditional charm and expansive views, it serves as a versatile, multi-functional art exhibition venue.

Guo Tianyun highlights that the center houses Taiwan’s largest single exhibition hall, spanning 560 pyeong, where the annual New Look Award and National Hundred-Number Oil Painting Exhibition are held. Their open calls attract many emerging artists, offering them a platform to shine. Additionally, the annual International Qingfeng Tea Banquet complements the Minnan architectural style, infusing tea culture with a unique artistic aesthetic.

Guo adds that the center’s exceptional spatial environment has made it the venue for the Lantern Festival for two consecutive years, drawing over one million visitors annually. The Digital Palace Museum Exhibition also leverages cutting-edge technology to bring national treasures to life, captivating audiences of all ages. With three exhibition halls hosting up to 60-plus shows per year, the center fulfills visitors’ artistic journeys.

The Port Art Center spans approximately 3 hectares and includes exhibition halls, a performance theater, an artists’ resource center, lecture and conference rooms, an outdoor theater and leisure area, classrooms, and administrative offices. With comprehensive facilities, it provides a stage for humanities and arts performances as well as a hub for cultural recreation, establishing itself as a core venue for artistic exhibitions across Taiwan.
