Japan Launches New Budget Airline 'Cherry Airlines' – Actress Inoue Yuki to Serve as Flight Attendant?

“Cherry Airlines (Cherry) will launch in spring 2013!” Clicking into Peach Aviation’s website, you’ll be surprised to find that it’s actually advertising its competitor. Upon closer inspection, it turns out this “Cherry Airlines,” which looks nearly identical to Peach in almost every way, is the first Japanese drama series invested in by Peach Aviation. The show uses a low-cost airline as its backdrop, starring the elegant Japanese actress Inoue Yuki and popular actor Mitsuru Matsuoka. Some scenes were filmed at Kansai Airport, and the aircraft cabin scenes were shot using Peach’s brand-new Airbus A320, introduced in November this year.

This Japanese drama, tentatively titled “Low-Cost Flight,” features Inoue Yuki as a flight attendant for the budget airline. A mid-career flight attendant with some flying experience is suddenly transferred to a low-cost subsidiary of her original airline—Cherry Airlines—and a series of stories unfold as she is dispatched there. Mitsuru Matsuoka plays her charming boss. What kind of sparks will fly between them? Viewers will just have to “stay tuned.”
