When visiting Jeju Island in South Korea, besides trying the famously delicious oranges, you definitely shouldn’t miss the “cheap and hearty” seafood dishes that are much more affordable than those in Seoul. In Dongmun Market located in the Dongmun-ro shopping district, there are seafood restaurants known for being “generous with portions, delicious, and incredibly fresh.” If you’re tired from exploring the Jungangno Underground Shopping Street or Dongmun Market, why not take a break here, rest your legs, and treat yourself to a satisfying meal.

At the seafood restaurants here, meals are mainly served as set menus. Each set includes a main course of sashimi and a spicy seafood hot pot, along with appetizers such as crayfish, sashimi nigiri, ikura rice balls, fried fish slices, fin edges, squid, shellfish, grilled fish, fish skin salad, and lettuce salad — all spread out generously across the table.

The main sashimi is not only fresh but also has a springy texture and rich fat content. Whether eaten with wasabi soy sauce, Korean chili paste, or wrapped in lettuce and garlic, it’s incredibly tasty. Even though the sashimi is so good you might want to keep eating non-stop, don’t forget to save a few slices to cook in the spicy seafood soup — try this unique two-in-one way of enjoying your seafood.
