In 2012, the new-era business magazine Ppaper Business selected the world’s top 10 theme parks. Among them, Hokkaido’s Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, with its “snow” theme and multifaceted expressions including a ski resort at an altitude of 1,239 meters with a total slope length of 4,500 meters, ski slopes of varying levels, the ICE VILLAGE, the Ice Chapel, and the Polar Village, vividly showcased the unique culture and scenery of a snowy country, earning favor from the judges.

TANG Gui-zhen, CEO of Taiwan-based travel agency Tang Gui-zhen International Travel Service, which has long organized tours for Taiwanese travelers, said that Hoshino Resorts Tomamu offers beginner ski lessons with Chinese-speaking instructors. On the other hand, for those who simply enjoy playing in and admiring the snow, the resort arranges activities such as dog sledding, snow banana boat rides, snowshoe walking, shopping at the ICE VILLAGE, and enjoying a drink at the ice bar. With this two-pronged marketing approach, the resort quickly won the hearts of Taiwanese travelers, leading to a year-on-year surge in visitor numbers. In 2012, the number reached over 28,000, of which 80% were group tourists and 20% were independent travelers.
