The Qilan Cherry Blossom Season Blooms Early; Wild Macaques Join in the Fun, Squinting to "Admire the Flowers"

With consecutive cold waves hitting recently, cherry blossoms, which typically bloom after the Lunar New Year, have flowered early across Taiwan. This year, the cherry blossoms at Qilan Villa in Yilan have also bloomed ahead of schedule. Amidst the mountains and rivers of Taiping Mountain, visitors can enjoy the falling petals while listening to melodious music — even wild macaques couldn’t resist sneaking into the garden to admire the blossoms from afar. The completely fearless wild macaques appearing in the park have also amazed visitors, who said, “The cherry blossoms are so beautiful, even the monkeys came to see them.”

Located on Taiwan Provincial Highway 7 at a relatively low altitude, Qilan Villa has recently seen its mountain cherry blossoms quietly bloom. Red cherry blossoms can be spotted throughout the garden, complementing the entire plum blossom forest that flowers in winter — a truly beautiful sight. Reporters visited Qilan Villa yesterday (20th) and discovered two wild macaques quietly perched on a fence in a corner of the garden. They seemed to be listening to the villa’s “Falling Cherry Blossoms” concert while admiring the beauty of the blossoms. Their serene and contented posture made people want to follow their gaze and take a cherry blossom viewing journey along the Taiping Mountain rivers.

To coincide with the cherry blossom bloom, Qilan Villa has specially launched a Cherry Blossom Season event. From now until February 7th, musicians will perform “Falling Cherry Blossoms” concerts under the cherry trees every day, allowing visitors to enjoy both the flowers and the music. In addition, the villa has introduced “Beauty Hot Spring Rooms” where guests can soak in the hot springs while taking in the floral scenery. With floor-to-ceiling windows, these rooms offer stunning views while you relax in the hot springs.

Operators stated that during the event period (February 1–7), on weekdays, accommodation at either Qilan Villa or Mingchi Villa in Maogao Ecological Park is available at half price for all room types. For those not staying overnight but visiting the parks, discounted weekday entry tickets (January 21–February 7) are also offered. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the first wave of the early cherry blossom season.
