Pingtung’s First Pet Park Opens: Exclusive Murals on Pipes and Wavy Boardwalks for Furry Friends

Pingtung County’s first pet park officially opened on the 29th, symbolizing an advancement in the county’s overall animal welfare and offering educational value about life. The county government stated that the pet park will serve as an important hub for pet gatherings, adoptions, and other canine family meetups in the future.

The pet park is located under the Gaoping Bridge on the left bank of the Gaoping River’s floodplain. The county’s Agriculture Department noted that the site offers convenient transportation, no nearby residential areas, and ample space, allowing furry friends to run freely on the grass. It also features various recreational facilities such as colorful concrete pipes, jumping tire racks, and wavy boardwalks.

The park also provides dog waste bags, and pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs to help maintain the cleanliness of the area. The county government urges everyone that environmental upkeep relies on collective effort—visitors are reminded to take their trash with them after enjoying the park to avoid impacting hygiene.

The event on the 29th also included pet adoptions, rabies vaccinations, health check-ups, pet grooming activities, face-changing performances, parrot flying shows, and singing performances. Additionally, an obstacle course game was the highlight, where over 200 pet owners were confident in completing the challenges, but their pets often disobeyed commands, running around wildly—a hilarious scene that had the crowd in stitches. Visitors are welcome to come play on weekdays as well.
