Adopt an Old Pomelo Tree & Yuzu Trees | Lanyang Green Expo “Memories & Forest Breathing”

Lanyang County’s annual Green Expo will begin at the end of March in the Su’ao Wulaku Scenic Area. This year’s theme, “Memories & Forest Breathing,” invites everyone to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the forest and fresh air in the Wulaku Scenic Area of Lanyang. The Lanyang County Government has introduced a special event this year: “Buy a ticket to adopt an old pomelo tree, and enjoy an immersive experience plus harvest.” Abandoned pomelo trees that have been neglected for over ten years will be revitalized, and those who purchase presale tickets ending in “51” will receive an “adopted regenerated pomelo tree,” allowing them to claim all the pomelos produced by their tree this year.

This year marks the 14th edition of the Lanyang Green Expo, which centers around the three fundamental elements of life — “sunlight, air, and water” — along with the essential “earth.” This year, the organizers are delving deeper into everyday life by incorporating the fragrance of pomelos. Over 250 pomelo trees, abandoned for more than a decade across the other side of the Wulaku Stream, will be revitalized. The goal is to revisit past idyllic environments through daily experiences and to promote truly organic, wellness-focused living in the future.

The expo area this year is divided into several themed zones, including the Orchid Pavilion, Earth Ranch, Young Farmers’ Veggie Home, Green Plaza, Wellness Experience Zone, Environmental Education Pavilion, River Ecosystem Display & Experience, and Organic Farming Demonstration. The Wellness Experience Zone showcases leisure agriculture areas, a nudist maze, a pomelo flower forest, rice food sales, and the Hinoki Farm. The Young Farmers’ Veggie Home focuses on modern people’s pursuit of an organic lifestyle and dreams of becoming self-sufficient small farmers. It includes the Good Soil Good Things Market, Happy Seeds House, Photosynthesis Canteen, Farming Mini Mart, Veggie Life Courtyard, Herbal Flower Garden, and ecological fish ponds, where visitors can also enjoy the fun of picking fruits and vegetables themselves.
