Once a key military stronghold, Kinmen has shed its war-torn image while retaining its simple local charm, beautiful historic architecture, diverse natural ecology, vibrant folk activities, and wartime relics. In response to the Taipei Spring Travel Exhibition, being held at Taipei World Trade Center from now until the 29th, the Kinmen Pavilion is offering the latest “Glorious Summer Ocean Season” and “Mid-Autumn Mooncake Gambling” events, along with discounted travel packages. Visitors can also enjoy a wealth of giveaways, local specialties, and performances on-site.

Kinmen is developing into an international leisure and tourism island. The Kinmen Pavilion at the 2013 Spring Travel Exhibition caught the eye with its big red lantern decorations and a large thematic poster that clearly showcased Kinmen’s attractions and travel highlights. The pavilion is promoting this summer’s “Glorious Kinmen Ocean Vibes & Golden Lake Beach Clam Season,” running from July 6 to August 4 during the summer vacation period. Another highlight is the autumn “Mid-Autumn Mooncake Gambling” event from August 17 to September 19.

Independent travelers can refer to the county government’s recommended 3-day itinerary for the Clam Season, taking sightseeing buses or cycling to explore Kinmen Island’s attractions such as the Lion Rock Artillery Fort, Mount Taiwu, the 823 War History Museum, Zhai Mountain Tunnel, and Wujing Academy. They can also visit Success Beach to try clam digging and net fishing, enjoy music and beachcombing at Houhu Coastal Park, or explore the outlying islands of Lesser Kinmen (Lieyu).

During the exhibition period, those who purchase travel packages can collect stamps at designated locations by presenting their stamped card, and then redeem a commemorative bottle of liquor at the General’s Office. Throughout the event, the Kinmen Pavilion will screen the “Slow Travel in Kinmen” film at scheduled times daily, along with interactive performances such as mooncake gambling experiences, quiz contests, promotional activities, energetic dance shows, cocktail demonstrations, and tasting sessions. Additionally, the pavilion brings together local travel agencies, hotels, specialty product businesses, Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc., homestay operators, and duty-free shops, offering a rich array of travel products and discounted packages. On-site purchases also come with special gifts.
