To drive tourism in Taichung City, the Taichung Hotel Association has gathered 12 tourist hotels to jointly launch the “GO Taichung Gourmet Star Holiday” promotion campaign, with accommodation package prices discounted by as much as 61%. Deputy Mayor of Taichung, Tsai Ping-kun, also noted that such industry collaboration to expand the tourism market is rare nationwide.
At today’s press conference for the “GO Taichung Gourmet Star Holiday” campaign, Tsai Ping-kun, Taichung Tourism Bureau Director General Chang Da-chun, and representatives from the 12 hotels donned chef uniforms to promote Taichung tourism. Tsai Ping-kun said that this year, many major international events are being held in Taichung, including the World Baseball Classic and the upcoming World Property Congress in May, all drawing attention to the city.
Tsai Ping-kun mentioned that Taichung’s ChingChuanKang Airport and Taichung Port bring in large numbers of visitors. According to statistics, Taichung’s hotels and homestays can currently offer over 15,000 rooms this year, with additional large-scale hotel developments continually expanding capacity. The 12 hotels in Taichung are both cooperating and competing, and this joint promotion — a rare model nationwide — aims to grow the overall market.
The “GO Taichung Gourmet Star Holiday” joint promotion runs from May 1 to June 30. The Taichung Hotel Association stated that the accommodation and gourmet packages include a 4.3% discount on the stay-and-two-meals package at The Splendor Taichung, 4.6% off at The Splendor Taichung for the same package, 4.5% off stays at Sunlight Hot Spring Resort, 5.6% off stays at Fresh Spring Resort, and 3.9% off stays at Evergreen Laurel Hotel, among others.
