See a 40-meter waterfall from a transparent viewing platform—the Hsinchu Frog Stone Skywalk opens in February

Hsinchu has a new attraction again！The as-yet-unofficially-open Frog Stone Skywalk is largely completed and is scheduled to officially open on February 1, 2018, sparking much discussion among the public. Aerial photos of this skywalk located by the Naro River in Jinping Village, Jianshi Township have also been revealed early. Provided by netizens, the images show not only an exciting transparent viewing platform but also the chance to admire the magnificent scenery of a mountain waterfall from the platform.

Jianshi’s Naro River is not far from Hsinchu’s well-known Neiwan Old Street, and is a popular spot for canyoning in the summer. The Frog Stone Skywalk by the Naro River is built along the rock face—there is one ecological trail and another waterfall-viewing trail, totaling 400 meters in length, with a dreamlike landscape. Walking along the Frog Stone Trail, you’ll find the 40-meter Frog Stone Waterfall above, while below you can enjoy the changing mountain mists. At the end, there is specially designed a transparent viewing platform where you can admire the waterfall surrounded by forest.

Local county councilor Fan Kun-song mentioned that before roads were developed, people traveling from the front mountains to Yufeng and Xiuluan would lay planks across the large rocks in the Frog Stone river area to cross directly to the other side and then climb up the cliffs. To maintain a high-quality environment and recreational function, the newly built Frog Stone Skywalk will implement management measures in the future, including guided tours and a limit of 20 people entering at a time, with an admission fee to be charged.
