International Museum Day 518 – Spend a Thrilling Night in the Museum with Ancient Creatures

On May 18, International Museum Day, to encourage the public to visit, learn about, and connect with museums, some museums are holding a series of “night tours, treasure hunts, and exhibitions” during this holiday weekend, extending their opening hours into the evening. Public museums, including the National Palace Museum, will all offer free admission on May 18.

The Ministry of Culture has coordinated approximately 150 public and private museums across the country under the theme “Museums Open at Night” to celebrate Museum Day. In addition to extended evening hours, the National Museum of History and the National Taiwan Museum are hosting “overnight stays,” allowing children to experience the unique thrill of spending the night among ancient relics in a “museum haunted house”-like setting.

The National Taiwan Museum has transformed the Land Bank Exhibition Hall into a “Starry Sky Story House,” where children can explore the intellectual wonders of interacting with ancient fossils during the “overnight stay.” The National Palace Museum is launching the “Great Palace Museum Treasure Hunt,” featuring a nighttime adventure and scavenger hunt. Visitors simply need to download the “Take the Palace Museum with You” and “National Palace Museum Permanent Exhibitions” apps, complete the challenge and verification at night, and they can exchange their efforts for exquisite gifts.
