The 2013 Vivid Sydney Festival in Australia will debut on May 24 in The Rocks area of Sydney. Over the 18-day event, iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour, and the Sydney Opera House will be illuminated by dazzling, colorful lights at night. Admission to the festival is completely free.

The upcoming Vivid Sydney Festival will feature 60 dedicated light and music zones in The Rocks area. In addition, over 40 national heritage sites and famous buildings, including the Sydney Opera House, will collaborate with the event. Light artists will use modern lighting technology and synchronize it with music to breathe new life into these traditional structures.

The Vivid Sydney Festival is one of Australia’s most important annual themed events, second only to New Year's Eve fireworks. While it showcases spectacular lighting, it also emphasizes energy conservation and carbon reduction. Most of the lighting is powered by solar energy, aiming to make Sydney more beautiful at night through the most eco-friendly technology and vibrant activities.
