A popular French-style log cabin restaurant in Hsinchu with amazing views – super generous squid pasta!

When visiting Hsinchu attractions, Ping Tzu would like to recommend Provence Hsinchu, a log cabin restaurant located in Hsinchu’s Xinpu Township. It creates an enchanting European countryside-style setting that feels like you’ve stepped into a foreign land in Europe — perfect for photos, ideal for a gathering of friends, and offers a rich and refined menu with great value. With fresh air and a relaxing atmosphere, it's a highly recommended European-style scenic restaurant in Hsinchu featured on “Foodie Safari,” a famous IG-worthy spot in Hsinchu, and a great family-friendly dining option in the city.

To get to Provence Log Cabin Restaurant, start from the National Freeway No. 2 / Hsinchu–Guansi Interchange → head toward Guansi/Xinpu → turn right at the intersection of County Hwy 118 / Zhengyi Intersection → connect to Zhongzheng Road → turn right at the intersection of County Hwy 115 / Section 1 Yangxin Road → find Provence Rose Manor Suites (not a homestay), then enter into Xinlong Road Lane 230. In just a few minutes, you’ll arrive at this bright yellow building. This is actually a homestay previously named Provence Rose Manor. Now the restaurant and the homestay operate separately, so you can dine here without staying overnight. That’s exactly what Ping Tzu did on this day.

The front area is spacious and features a large parking lot, making it convenient for diners to visit.

On this day, Ping Tzu walked up wooden stairs onto a wooden platform where she saw this eye-catching white log cabin — Provence Log Cabin Restaurant (Provence Hsinchu) — with its strong European countryside style giving off a uniquely foreign vibe. Had she not come here, she wouldn’t have imagined that Xinpu in Hsinchu had such an impressive European-style building.

In front of the restaurant, there's a large wooden viewing platform designed for guests to enjoy scenic views all around. The landscape is beautiful, the air is fresh, and the whole experience is extremely pleasant.

Next to the entrance, there are also lounge chairs set up for those waiting.

Upon entering, you’re greeted with a warm, rustic ambiance — wooden floors, ceilings with natural-looking wooden beams that mimic the look of traditional log cabins, bringing out a genuine rural charm. The space has a refined feel, and while the seating is limited to just a few dozen spots, the abundance of wooden architecture and furniture creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere — perfect for gatherings among friends or family meals.

Friendly staff greet you and guide you to your seat, offering a pot of freshly squeezed lemonade to help you relax and take in the surroundings.

The interior of Provence Log Cabin Restaurant (Provence Hsinchu) is thoughtfully decorated with charming and creative displays. There's an open utensil bar area that makes it easy for guests to pick up what they need.

For families with children, the restaurant provides adorable and safe child seats. The space is brightly lit, with ample distance between tables, creating a pressure-free and comfy environment.

Flipping through the menu of Provence Log Cabin Restaurant (Provence Hsinchu), you'll find a wide array of dishes. The black-and-white high-contrast layout gives it a premium feel. Just looking at the options — bread, drinks, soups, main courses, desserts, and set meals — most are priced at just over NT$300 and are very generous. The minimum spend is one drink per person, and the dining duration is limited to two hours (children under 110 cm are not counted toward the minimum). If the restaurant isn’t too busy, they may not strictly enforce the time limit. It’s recommended to make a reservation on weekends as it often gets full.

Table settings include cutlery, water, toilet paper, and cups, all conveniently placed for easy access.

The daily soup changes, and on this day it was pumpkin soup (pictured above), topped with crispy croutons and fresh coriander for added aroma.

The pumpkin soup is rich and creamy, with a strong milky flavor enhanced by the naturally sweet taste of pumpkin, making it even more delicious and aromatic.

The bread served is garlic toast with a crispy texture. Alongside, there's toasted bread served with homemade fruit jam (apple sauce), offering a sweet and tangy flavor. Dip the bread into the apple jam, and you'll enjoy bursts of fruity aroma and a rich texture — absolutely delicious.

The “Deep Sea Elf Olive Ink Squid Pasta” (NT$420) features an entire whole squid placed dramatically on top — incredibly generous with the ingredients.

Beneath the squid, there’s a hearty filling of tomatoes, chicken, olive oil, onions, and more.

Tasting the Deep Sea Elf Olive Ink Squid Pasta, which is made with squid ink noodles, the pasta itself has a nice chewy bite. Paired with the fresh squid on top, it delivers a full-on seafood flavor, showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to high-quality ingredients.

The “Australian Gem Potato & Fruit Wrap” (NT$200) comes with crispy fries and is very eye-catching upon arrival.

This dessert wrap is made with potato and fruit, offering a sweet alternative to typical savory wraps. Topped with strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi served with fresh cream, it's delightfully sweet and loved by those with a sweet tooth.

The combination of mashed potato inside the wrap gives a smooth and fluffy texture, refreshing and not greasy. The outer wrap is soft yet slightly crispy, adding layers of texture — a refreshing and unique international-style dish.

The fries are made from local sweet potatoes, fried to a golden brown, not oily, and taste amazing when dipped in the provided plum powder — sweet and absolutely delicious.

For dessert, there's hibiscus flower panna cotta (as shown above), topped with tangy blueberries, making for a simple yet extraordinary treat.

The panna cotta is rich, Q-textured, and creamy, paired with the long-simmered hibiscus flower sauce that’s appetizing and showcases the delicate flavors of the dessert — truly delicious.

For drinks, Ping Tzu chose the Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream Sherbet (NT$180), a winter-exclusive option.

On top, there's a scoop of strawberry ice cream, along with diced fresh strawberries — just the visual alone is a huge plus. It’s packed with ingredients, and sipping the rich and fresh strawberry ice cream snow slush, every bite delivers the natural fruity aroma of strawberries. Blended with fresh milk, it becomes even thicker and more flavorful, leaving you not only feeling full but also with a sweet taste in your heart and mouth.

This bright yellow European-style building is the Provence Rose Manor Homestay. Unfortunately, someone was holding a wedding here that day, with tents set up, so we couldn’t get a solo shot of the standalone building.

The highly eye-catching and distinctive yellow European-style exterior makes you feel like you’ve arrived in a foreign country. The large front lawn is perfect for kids to play on, and it also makes for beautiful photos.
