The “Biggest Summer Travel Expo,” the 2013 Taipei International Tourism Expo, opened with a buzz this morning at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center. With over 1,100 booths and more than 500 exhibitors, the scale has expanded by 30% compared to last year. Tourism bureaus from around the world and major domestic travel agencies all took part. Taking advantage of the “Philippine order diversion wave,” travel agencies scrambled to offer deals, launching “Ten-Thousand-NTD Island Vacations” – international trips for just over ten thousand NTD. These include a three-day Hong Kong trip for 6,999 NTD (tax included), 8,888 NTD (tax excluded) buy-one-get-one-free, and a Korea trip for 6,499 NTD (tax excluded), making it the perfect chance for the public to snag amazing deals.

In addition to discounted overseas travel packages, domestic travel deals have also seen discounts of up to 80% off, with operators offering various meal vouchers and accommodation coupons at special rates. This year also marks the first-time addition of a local specialties zone, featuring popular group-buying food vendors, offering visitors plenty to eat, drink, and take home – a wealth of great deals.

On the opening day, May 24th at 12 noon at Exit 13 of the Taipei World Trade Center, the first 500 ticket holders will receive prizes including flight tickets, accommodation coupons, and local specialties – everyone wins something, with the grand prize being round-trip tickets to Japan or Hong Kong worth 10,000 NTD.
