Eyeing the summer travel market across the Taiwan Strait, TransAsia Airways launches Kaohsiung-Xuzhou route

In response to the peak summer travel season, TransAsia Airways is advancing both its scheduled flights and charter services to capture the cross-strait tourism market. The airline announced the launch of a new Kaohsiung-Xuzhou charter service starting June 3, offering two round-trip flights per week. A inauguration ceremony was held today (June 3) at Kaohsiung’s Xiaogang Airport.

Recognizing the tourism potential of southern Taiwan, TransAsia Airways is using the charter model to provide flights between Kaohsiung and Xuzhou, aiming to attract more mainland tourists to visit southern Taiwan while also making it easier for locals in the south to travel to the mainland—creating a mutually beneficial tourism advantage. TransAsia Airways stated that it will initially use the charter model to cultivate market demand, with plans to actively apply for converting the route into a regular scheduled flight in the future to further deepen market presence and benefit more travelers on both sides of the strait.

Xuzhou, a renowned historical and cultural city in China and the birthplace of Han culture, holds promising tourism prospects. Additionally, Jiangsu Province is an economic hub within the Yangtze River Delta and a gathering place for Taiwanese businesses, ranking among Jiangsu’s three major urban agglomerations (Nanjing Metropolitan Area, Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Area, and Xuzhou Metropolitan Area).
