A Mini Getaway in Early Summer: A New Dual-Land-and-Water Experience on the Blue Highway

Enjoying the riverside scenery and natural ecological environment along the riverbanks, feeling the gentle breeze—this is what makes Taipei’s Blue Highway so appealing, and a small joy even in the heart of the city. Since the end of May, Taipei has launched four mini travel flight routes, which have received enthusiastic public support. As of last weekend, in just two weeks, 15 flights have been operated, with over 450 participants. Many passengers have given positive feedback and high praise.

The Blue Highway mini travel flights have attracted many tourists, and enthusiastic visitors have shared their trip experiences and photos on Facebook with online friends. Due to the enthusiastic response, Huang Junhan from the Department of Rapid Transit Systems stated that the mini travel flights are still ongoing, and operators have even added 10 more flights. All tourists are welcome to join.

Huang Junhan said that the Blue Highway mini travel program was first launched on May 24 this year, primarily to enrich the content of Blue Highway voyages. "We hope that people don’t just buy a boat ticket, but an entire experience." More guided tour elements have been added to enhance the added value of the Blue Highway, allowing all participants to learn about the city’s river development history and culture, as well as the landscapes and natural ecology around the docks or riverbanks.

The currently launched flights, such as “Dadaocheng Historic Sites Tour + River Cruise to Tamsui,” “Keelung River Cruise + Songshan Walking Tour,” and “Guandu Eco Walking Tour + River Cruise to Tamsui,” are the most popular among tourists, with nearly full bookings. With experience gained from operating these mini travels, more diverse routes will be introduced in the future to showcase the riverside features of Taipei’s Blue Highway.
