Crystal Chapel Removes Fencing; Reopens for Christmas

“The Crystal Chapel is back!” After more than four months of “closure for renovation,” the well-known coastal attraction, the Beimen Crystal Chapel, has finally removed its construction fencing. Only the area around the canopy square is still undergoing final work. Although visitors can’t get up close just yet, the site has finally reemerged, attracting many people on the 24th to take photos and check in.

One of the popular attractions in the Beimen area, the Crystal Chapel, was previously enclosed by layers of tarp due to ongoing landscaping and facility improvement projects, making it impossible to approach. Visitors could only see the roof of the chapel from afar, leaving tourists who had traveled a long way feeling disappointed and directly impacting visitor numbers. The Yunlin National Scenic Area Administration noted that once completed, it will become a rare outdoor wedding venue and is expected to reignite a wave of tourism.

To enhance the Christmas and year-end atmosphere, the Yunlin National Scenic Area Administration has installed LED lights around nearby attractions, adding vibrant colors to Beimen’s streets at night. Among them, a 35-year-old 10-meter-tall Araucaria tree inside the Beimen Police Station of the Xuejia Sub-bureau has been decorated as a real Christmas tree. Located right in front of the entrance to the Beimen Visitor Center, it stands out prominently.

Some visitors noticed that the construction fencing around the Crystal Chapel under renovation had quietly come down, and the interior layout looked noticeably different from before. Although it’s not fully open yet, once officially launched, visitors will be able to enter the square and walkways for a closer experience with the Crystal Chapel. Some also commented that the overall style doesn’t feel distinct yet and hope the relevant authorities will plan it properly.
