EVA Air Joins Star Alliance; Casts Takeshi Kaneshiro to Interpret "The Meaning of Travel"

In recent days, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed the handsome presence of "Takeshi Kaneshiro" in commercials across major TV channels, teasing with the message: "June 18 at 20:58 Taiwan Time, tune in to all news channels for the global premiere." This is actually a campaign by a domestic airline to celebrate its official entry into the international "Star Alliance," enlisting the iconic Takeshi Kaneshiro as a spokesperson to reinterpret the meaning of travel from the perspective of a "global traveler."

EVA Air Chairman Chang Kuo-wei stated: "Joining the Star Alliance is a new milestone for EVA Air. As we align with other member airlines worldwide, it is also the best opportunity to promote ourselves internationally. Takeshi Kaneshiro, who represents Taiwan on the global stage, is the perfect ambassador, aligning with the international image EVA Air strives to present, and he will perfectly embody the spirit of this advertisement."

The new Takeshi Kaneshiro ad was shot in locations including Tokyo and Nara in Japan, Paris in France, and Taitung in Taiwan. The production schedule spanned 37 days—reportedly the longest and most location-diverse shoot Kaneshiro has ever done for an ad. He also personally recorded all voiceovers. The ad is available in four language versions: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese. The full 90-second commercial will be aired tonight (June 18) on major TV channels in over 80 countries around the world.
