EVA Air officially joined the Star Alliance today (the 18th) and held a signing ceremony for the alliance at its headquarters. In the future, passengers flying with EVA Air can access a global network of 195 countries and 1,328 destinations through the alliances of various airlines, all with a single ticket, and their luggage can also be checked through to the final destination.

The Star Alliance was established in 1997 as an international airline alliance. Its purpose is to enhance the strength and competitiveness of member airlines by sharing resources and connecting routes. The alliance has a total of 28 member airlines, including 8 in the Asia-Pacific region, making it the oldest alliance in the aviation industry. Later, the SkyTeam and oneworld alliances were formed, both aiming to achieve a stronger airline network and better passenger services through alliance partnerships.

Zheng Chuan-yi, General Manager of EVA Air, said: “Joining the Star Alliance gives us the opportunity to serve passengers from around the world and allows our existing passengers to enjoy seamless services provided by the alliance based on membership status. Our participation will also offer passengers another travel experience when traveling to and from Asia via Taipei.” EVA Air will also add two new destinations for the alliance: “Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Surabaya, Indonesia.”

To coincide with joining the Star Alliance, EVA Air has launched a new premium card called “Infinity MileageLands.” Members can accumulate and redeem miles on any alliance flights, and Diamond and Gold card members flying with alliance airlines enjoy the benefits of Star Alliance Gold membership, including access to over 1,000 lounges worldwide, extra free baggage allowances, and priority delivery, among others.
