When the giant angel lights illuminate, a vibrant sea of colorful lights shines brightly along the entire street — this is the most magical sight on the streets of London in December. The most iconic Regent Street and Oxford Street have a long history of Christmas lightings. Walking through them, you’ll find photo opportunities everywhere that’ll max out your phone’s memory, while the streets are filled with festive Christmas decorations that exude a joyful holiday atmosphere, infecting every traveler on the road.
Regent Street
Visiting London and looking to shop till you drop? You can’t miss the famous Regent Street, where flagship stores of nearly all major international luxury brands are located. As you walk along, watch tourists from around the world carrying shopping bags full of treasures, and your own shopping cravings will instantly soar.

This year’s theme is “Spirit of Christmas,” featuring over 300,000 LED lights illuminating the street, with 16 giant angel lights descending upon lighting-up night to guard Regent Street from above. Each store decorates its windows for Christmas, filling the air with a beautifully romantic ambiance. If you’re lucky, you might even see snowflakes gently falling from the sky — it’s truly a dreamlike Christmas.
Oxford Street
Continuing along Regent Street, you’ll arrive at another must-visit shopping destination: Oxford Street. Compared to Regent Street, it offers more affordable and trendy brand stores. Well-known retailers such as Zara, H&M, Next, Mango, Forever 21, and Uniqlo are all gathered here, making it hard to resist buying everything in sight.

Oxford Street also has a long-standing tradition of Christmas lightings. This year marks the 58th annual Christmas lighting ceremony. In 2017, the theme was “The Magic of Christmas” (The Magic of Christmas), with 1,778 colorful round lights hanging above the street. The design was inspired by falling snowflakes, and nearly 750,000 LED lights shine brilliantly on the street, along with cute light decorations shaped like snowflakes and snowmen, instantly lifting your mood.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
Last year, European Christmas markets caused a sensation in Taiwan, and now you can finally experience the authentic British-style Christmas market in London. Located in the Westminster area in central London, Hyde Park is usually a great spot for locals to take leisurely strolls. But as Christmas approaches, it transforms into the Winter Wonderland amusement park, attracting visitors from around the globe.

Small wooden cabins are set up throughout Hyde Park and decorated with various Christmas ornaments. There’s also a designated photo spot where visitors can take pictures with Santa Claus. Both adults and children can have a blast here.

Combining a Christmas market with an amusement park, it’s no surprise that Winter Wonderland covers a vast area. Entry to the grounds is free, but individual rides require separate payment, with varying prices for each attraction. During the day, Winter Wonderland has a cute and cozy vibe, but when night falls and colorful lights and neon signs illuminate the area, it becomes an even more romantic winter wonderland.
