【Travel Photography Tips】Castles again? How to shoot them without getting bored?

For those of you who travel often, I’m sure you’ve visited quite a few castles. Learning about the local history and culture is certainly a great way to understand a castle, but apart from that, what methods can you use to take more vivid photos, rather than just the typical “I was here” shots? This time, we at Fever Travel are back at it again to share some tips with you.

1) Pay attention to the architectural style of the castle

Some castles, due to their unique architectural styles, can be beautifully captured with a panoramic shot. The castle below, located inSpain, is calledAlcázar of Segovia. Originally an Arab fortress, it later served as a royal palace, prison, royal artillery academy, and military academy. Its distinctive stonework gives the castle the appearance of a ship sailing along the Eresma River.

2) Use Foreground Elements to Provide Context

To convey the grandeur of a castle, simply photographing the castle itself can be somewhat monotonous. Therefore, using foreground elements can solve this problem. Take the following photo of Kumamoto Castle as an example — there are many ginkgo trees planted within the castle grounds. By making use of what’s readily available, using the large trees as theJapanesecastle’s foreground not only highlights the height of the castle but also brings out the environment itself, making it a great choice.

3) Wait for the Right Moment and Use Contrast

Color temperature can create a contrast, and placing a castle alongside an airplane represents a blend of the ancient and the modern. Many people may have visited Osaka Castle, but capturing a thoughtful photo like this one requires quietly waiting for the right moment.
