Experience the romantic fairy-tale atmosphere of a century-old French Christmas market in Taiwan

Christmas is most associated with Europe, but this year you canTaipei—feel that magical festive vibe. That’s becauseTaipeiCity Government has organized the “2016TaipeiChristmas Wonderland” series of events, featuring France’s oldest Strasbourg Christmas market, which will be held from December 1 to December 25 atTaipei 101’s Water Dance Plaza.

As night falls, the bustling market becomes a wonderland under the glow of two towering Christmas trees, standing 10 and 12 meters high respectively. Visitors are busy taking selfies, surrounded by a dreamy carousel, a snow-covered lawn made of green turf,Taipei101’s holiday decorations, and 16 French-style wooden stalls—all carefully designed to recreate the charm of the Strasbourg Christmas market.

At the market, you can sample classic French treats like mulled wine, sauerkraut and sausage hotpot, and Alsatian meat pie noodles. There are also handicrafts and interactive games. Don’t miss the French classic films shown every Friday evening, or the weekend cultural performances held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings.
