Christmas Light-Up: Tainan’s North Gate Shines Bright at Night

With Christmas approaching and 2018 just around the corner, the Southwest Coast National Scenic Area Administration, in collaboration with Beimenyu Presbyterian Church and World Vision Taiwan, has organized a Christmas light-up event. Decorative LED lights have been installed at Beimenyu Church, the plaza in front of the Cloud Management Office, and the entrance of the North Gate Visitor Center. From now until New Year’s Eve evening, these lights will illuminate the streets of Beimen, and a Christmas stamp-collecting activity has also been launched. Visitors are invited to find small hidden Christmas trees at various scenic spots to receive mysterious gifts.

The North Gate Crystal Church is currently under expedited construction, with hopes of unveiling a new look by the end of the year. The Cloud Management Office has specially set up LED-themed light decorations at three nearby attractions. For ten days from now until New Year’s Eve, the lights will be on every evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, making the nighttime streets of Beimen sparkle with a unique charm.

According to the Cloud Management Office, in addition to its main structure, Beimenyu Church has also set up a light array along a walkway, creating the feel of a corridor through time. The Light Time Square in front of the office features deer-shaped light decorations, while the North Gate Visitor Center displays a snow-white Christmas tree themed around “salt.” All three installations are highly eye-catching.

In addition to the beautiful light displays, healing musicals are performed on Saturdays and Sundays. On the evening of the 29th, a movie discussion session will also be held, inviting renowned director Wei Te-sheng to “go crazy for movies” with the public. The upcoming New Year’s Eve event at Jingzijiao, featuring a sunset send-off, is equally exciting. Travel agencies have also planned 2-day, 1-night mini tour packages.
